  • William Alexander Woods dies of wounds in France
  • The Repatriation Department is established to provide support to returned soldiers and their families. Support included rehabilitation programs, financial and medical assistance, vocational training and the Soldier Settlement Scheme. In 1976, the department’s name would be changed to the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.
