- The Leader reports that 100 Italian women are learning how to drive trams to replace men that have gone to the front. Women Run Trams
- The Dardanelles Committee of the British Cabinet convenes in London to oversee the campaign and to agree on the level of support it should receive
- The German zeppelin LZ-37 is destroyed in mid-air near Ghent in Belgium by Lt Warneford of the Royal Naval Air Service. This is the first time that an airship is successfully attacked by an aeroplane.
