- ANZAC troops suffer devastating losses as they launch a two-day assault on the Turkish occupied hill known as Baby 700. Located some 180 metres above sea level, Baby 700 had been one of the main objectives following the landing on 25 April. Over 1,000 men are killed during the attack, including William Robert Clive Beasley, Oswald Cecil Jeffrey Baylis, William Henry O’Bree and Harold William Corkett.
