- William Feening enlists. William is commemorated on the Centenary of WWI in Orange Honour Roll; he would die of wounds on 11 February 1915.
- The first units of Indian Expeditionary Force “F” arrive in Egypt
- The Battle of Kolubara begins. Serbia repels the invading Austro-Hungarian armies, driving them back across the border. The battle lasts until 15 December.
