- James Taylor enlists. James is commemorated on the Centenary of WWI in Orange Honour Roll; he would be killed in action in France on 31 August 1918.
- French troops capture Hill 145, Marrieres Wood, and enemy trenches on the Bapaume-Peronne road
- Commander of the Greek 4th Army in Eastern Macedonia, Colonel Ioannis Hatzopoulos, surrenders to the Germans. Hatzopoulos and his men are interned in Gorlitz, Germany, for the duration of the war.
