HMAS Nusa in Rabaul Harbour c1914
- HMAS Nusa captures the German gunboat SMS Komet at Talassia, a small plantation approximately 160 miles south west of Rabaul. This is the last act of WWI hostilities in Australasian waters.
- The Russian cruiser Pallada is torpedoed by the German submarine U-26 in the Gulf of Finland, resulting in the death of 600 sailors. This is the first Russian warship to be lost in WWI. In 2012 a team of Finnish divers located and explored the wreck.
- British forces retake the town of Merville in north-eastern France. The town remained in Allied hands until 11 April 1918.
