- Henry George dies of disease aboard the hospital ship Gloucester Castle. He is buried at sea.
- The Leader reports that Allied forces are steadily gaining ground. In an article entitled Earn General Hamilton’s Praise the General considers the Australian troops to be “a magnificent lot of men” who are “as keen as mustard for the job.”
