- Charles Henry Wilfred Holland enlists. Charles is commemorated on the Centenary of WWI in Orange Honour Roll; he would be killed in action in France on 23 July 1916.
- The Leader publishes Call to the Colors, in an attempt to raise recruitment, claiming that 80 recruits are needed every day to reinforce the New South Welshmen at the front.
- Orange experiences the first snowfall of the season
- The Leader reports that Orange farmers and orchardists “are responding nobly to The Leader‘s appeal to contribute an acre of their growing crop towards a fund for the support of our wounded soldiers on their return from the trenches.”
