- Australian and American troops spearhead the British attack on the Hindenburg Line at the St Quentin Canal. Fighting continues until 2 October The Allies succeed in breaking through at Bellicourt; Australia sustains 2,577 casualties.
- Bulgaria signs an armistice with the Allies, becoming the first of the Central Powers to quit the war. “The Armistice of Salonika” stipulates that Bulgarian army evacuate all Greek and Serbian territory under their control and hand over all said territory and assets to the Allied forces, effective at noon on 30 September.
