- George Gavin of Molong explains how he was shot in the leg while serving as a stretcher bearer for the Imperial Camel Corps near Gaza. He says he finished delivering his patients and managed to walk two miles to the field ambulance. George confesses:
It was a pleasure to get into a clean bed once more. I thought that I would forget what a spring mattress was like, but I wasn’t long getting used to them again. In one sense I was not sorry to get away from the fight, as I had not had a wash nor had my boots off for six days.
- John Williams of Lords Place receives a reply to inquiries he made to the Red Cross Society regarding the fate of his son, Hector Edward Williams. Hector was one of 12 men from the Orange district who died on the opening day of the Second Battle of Bullecourt on 3 May 1917. The Late Pte Williams
