- German aircraft carry out two raids near Kent on England’s south-east coast. Eight high-explosive bombs weighing 10kg each are dropped, but no injuries are sustained. The only damage is a large number of broken windows, estimated at £48

- The German submarine SM U-38 under the command of Max Valentiner torpedoes the Russian hospital ship Yperyod in the Black Sea near Hopa in Turkey. The Yperyod sinks.
