- Day 363 of the war
- Summer heat, flies and disease continue to be a problem in the trenches of Gallipoli, as are lice. Soldiers pass the hours ‘chatting’ – or delousing – their clothing. The Never-Ending Chase by AM Park:
Whilst seated one day in my dug out
Weary and ill at ease
I saw a gunner carefully
Scanning his sunburnt knees
I asked him why he was searching
And what he was looking for
But his only reply was a long-drawn sigh
As he quietly killed one more.
