- First Lord of the British Admiralty, Winston Churchill, anticipates early and complete success in the Dardanelles. He writes to Sir Edward Grey “Should we get through the Dardanelles, as is now likely, we cannot be content with anything less than the surrender of everything Turkish in Europe.”
